Ebay - Working At Home Big Time In Singapore

Working at home is always an attractive for many people. They do it for different reasons, some lost their jobs, some just cannot stand a routine, some want better time management, some do it with dreams of big money.

However for most people working at home is just a temporarly solution to a financial crisis in their life, and it is not long before most people either have to look for a job again because working at home just doesnt bring in the dole.

I just finished a fantastic weekend at the Asia Internet Congress 2008, held in a cosy little thearette at the Singapore Management University. 300 eager Singapores listened in great apprehension as nine highly successful work at home Asians ( actually one is Finnish, but has decided to called Singapore home ) share their work at home strategies at tactics.

Singapore Benjamin Mark Wee steals the show with his unconventional but entertaining story of how he use eBay since the 1990s, when most Singaporeans have not heard of internet marketing and internet marketing as Singaporeans know it today were not heavily promoted at live events from overseas internet marketers. While most retailers in land scarce Singapore eked out a living operating small shops all over the island, Benjamin has been making lots of money on eBay selling things like Sony PSP power adapters to the USA, Europe and other far away places.

The thing is many Singaporeans sell and buys things on eBay, but this is just a casual encounter with eBay. Benjamin uses eBay to create a giant online retail empire that may make local offline retailers like Gain City blush.

It is an online retail empire Benjamin has created over 15 years on eBay, the secrets of which he is revealling in a special post-AIC 2008 workshop to a group of his fellow Singaporeans who too wanted to make working at home highly profitable and enjoying. According to Ben this is his way of giving back to Singapore by giving Singaporeans more options at financial freedom, using eBay and working at home in their HDB flats, private apartments or whatever. ( Home is still a brick and mortar thing here, although there was an odd couple who chose to make the Changi Airport their home )
