So who invented link exchange for blogs?
Google's Blogger of Wordpress?
Google called Blogger link exchange "backlinks".
Wordpress called link exchange "trackbacks".
Both works in similar fashion.
Google also refrains from calling trackbacks as link-exchange, but prefer to glorify its uses as content sharing and enrichment, which is noble purpose the www is designed for.
Only thing is backlinks only workds for Blogger blogs and trackbacks only for Wordpress blog. For very obvious reasons.
